Service Day, planned by Service Programs and the Center for Social Justice, is held once a semester where students, staff, and faculty come together to serve with local nonprofit organizations. You can choose to serve at one of the sites listed below.
Please arrive at the time listed for your site of choice, or we suggest arriving at 8 a.m if you have no preference. Thank you!
Everyone MUST check-in on-campus on the morning of the event at Pida Plaza on the north side of the Student Union, near the grassy side.
Everyone returns to the Student Union after their service project for food and refreshments!
Sign ups close on February 8th at 5pm. If you plan on serving as a group, please have all participants register individually!
*Times for each shift will be updated.
*For all sites: please bring a reusable water bottle. (Take Back the Tap will be hosting a bottle swap if you bring a one-time bottle and need to swap it in for a reusable one!)
*All must wear closed-toe shoes, shirts with sleeves AND long pants for working to protect against injury. Improper attire may mean being unable to join your group.
*Please note that service projects are subject to change depending on the needs of the community partners.

Assistance League of Las Vegas is to be a well-recognized philanthropic organization that understands and works to meet ever-changing needs of our community through adaptable programs.|
Volunteers will be dressing and bagging teddy bears that are distributed to first responders to give to children that have experienced a traumatic event.

Volunteers will be planting at Booker Elementary school garden.

|Dinosaurs and Roses is a Non-profit that operates thrift stores that aim to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need by direct contribution of goods. Proceeds from store sales are used to fund their community outreach programs.|
We will be organizing the thrift store, book department and the entire store to get ready for the grand opening on October 3.

|Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary was established in 1970 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and it offers a safe haven for animals of all types.|
Volunteers will be working on the continuous clean up of the amphitheater and sanctuary area.
*Please wear closed toe shoes, clothes that they are comfortable getting dirty. Bring gloves and plenty to drink.

|Lake mead is the largest water reservoir in the United States and is under the control of the National Park Service. The reservoir serves water to the states of Arizona, California, and Nevada, providing sustenance to nearly 20 million people and large areas of farmland.|
Volunteers will be participating in a litter clean up.

Examples of volunteer work you could expect to perform at the Springs Preserve on the Garden team:
Raking, Weeding, Digging, Planting, Trash removal
Most Jobs require: Bending, stooping, standing, walking, lifting, working outdoors in the elements including high summer temperatures.
All group garden work takes place outdoors in the elements. Please prepare for this by dressing appropriately with sturdy shoes/boots, sun protection, hat, gloves, snacks and clothing allowing for gardening work. Please join our sustainability efforts by bringing a water bottle to refill.

Volunteers will be creating safer sex kits.

|The Clark County Wetlands Park includes 2,900 acres of water, trails, and trees along the Las Vegas Wash. As well as the Wetlands Nature Preserve, Nature Center, and access from multiple trailheads, the Wetlands Park includes walking and biking trails in designated areas, plentiful opportunities for wildlife viewing, photography, and simply escaping to a unique natural environment. The Park is a shaded, green oasis overlooking the city of Las Vegas.|
Volunteers will be participating in an outdoor event cleaning up the Las Vegas wetlands.
