I helped create some documents for our new activity at the Animal Foundation - Doggy Field Trips! Now, people can take an animal out for a day or two and have fun with them! I created a sign out/sign in sheet, a quick guide of places to go and things to do, a small emergency facts sheet, and a report card for when they are returned to the shelter! This idea sounds like so much fun and I can't wait to see how it turns out!
I was tasked with adding new members to the Facebook Group Page. I was given the list of all the volunteers and started there! It was crazy to see how many volunteers there actually are- I even recognized a few names from my personal life that I didn't know were volunteers too!
Helped Blanca with some copying and filing. After I helped her with the respite surveys and putting them into envelopes.
I helped Bonnie with the high school mentors this morning. Some of the mentors had to be reassigned to new students due to some of our students moving away. I also helped Bonnie organize her Attendance calendars; keeping track of who turned them in or not. I met with one of the students and helped him with his reading. I also decorated Bonnie's door for the holidays!
Various task: went to parking office, completed prospective volunteers, approved volunteers hours, completed point system.
Today I answered and made many phone calls in regards to food banks, pantries, food snaps (SNAP). I was able to use learn and practice my communication skills through the phone and help assist people with the fresh food and food give away. In addition to answering any types of questions that they may have on the organization and the services that we have. Besides, communication development through the phone, I was able to work on collaboration skills with new volunteers and the team.
I was the Ovie Bear at Magical Forest.
Helped out at the Santa Run as a volunteer coordinator and played the Ovie bear on stage
I volunteered my time in helping others receive the federal welfare support of gaining food stamps and health insurances. I was able to see and understand the values of helping out the community around me and that there so many different types of people that need our supports. I learned how to do food stamps/senior shares and how to fill out the applications. It was a great experiences because I was able to communicate with others and see what support they need.
Overall, it was a very impactful experience to learn about others living situations and the important of using our time to help others.
Fadi doesn't like me being in charge, but he should get used to it. We ended our shift with a delightful raspberry croissant from Lovely. :)
Today was more filing and also packing lunches for Kid's Cafe. We packed 16,000.
The OV operations team has been working very diligently on getting the Santa Run ready. Today I assisted with registration. I registered a few folks that did not register before coming in, and gave out suits and information to those that have. Also, I helped load the truck that was taking some stuff to where the Santa Run is being held.
